I do have to say that at this stage in life I care less, but I also care more. I care less about all the "stuff" and the expectations, and I care more about myself. I did a workshop with a friend and have adopted my life's motto as LIVE SIMPLY. It is the simple things that give me the most joy. I need less stuff, less things to do, less responsibility. There is freedom in less.
I love what you wrote in your comment, Sandy, especially: "I care less about all the 'stuff' and the expectations, and I care more about myself." Well said! I'm also curious about the workshop you mentioned...
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving weekend with your family. I'm grateful for you, dear cousin!
This is awesome and hits home! I need to print this and highlight a few of the lines as reminders on the daily. The parenting missteps seem to be frequent with a teenage boy, but I always tell myself tomorrow is a new day, 'be better, do better'....admit and apologize. And the dancing and singing with abandon, well that is my favorite part and I am glad we have had the opportunity to share in this abundantly - what great memories we have made on family wedding dance floors (in the past and more recently)!
Thanks, Sara! I appreciate your comment, and I'm glad this resonates. And yes, how much fun we've had on the dance floor past and present. Here's to many more occasions for that! xo
Thanks, Mary Anne - so good to hear from you! I'm glad you've been writing. I'll always remember that you're the one who encouraged me to journal when my dad died. Such a helpful practice.
Best wishes to you and George, and happy holidays too!
My favorite line: 55 is giving fewer fucks

Isn’t it wonderful to find the grace in aging? Love your thoughts as you turn 55.
Thanks, Lynn!
